The oceans show us a young earth.

The oceans present us with a way of “dating” because we can measure the rates of various processes concerning the oceans. And using the old earth advocate’s own belief system of uniformitarianism, we get “maximum ages” that do not square with the secular long-age paradigm.

Uniformitarianism, also known as the Doctrine of Uniformity or the Uniformitarian Principle, is the assumption that the same natural laws and processes that operate in our present-day scientific observations have always operated in the universe in the past and apply everywhere in the universe.

Take a closer look at the evidence concerning the processes taking place in our oceans. You will find that by using long-age assumptions, old-earth dogma falls apart, and we can confirm the Bible’s young age of the earth.

Ocean Salt

The salinity of the oceans can give us a “clock” of sorts because we can estimate the amount of salt entering our oceans as well as the amount that leaves. It turns out that much more is entering than exiting, so the oceans are getting saltier over time.

So let’s use the evolutionist’s uniformitarian “clock” and assume the processes have stayed much the same. Starting with fresh water, how long would it take for the oceans to become as salty as they are?

A study by creation scientists Steve Austin and Russell Humphreys, using the most conservative numbers available, gave an absolute upper limit (not actual age!), of 60 million years. While this may seem like a long time, it is far too low a number to accommodate the secular age for the ocean of 3.8 billion years.

And note that the oceans would have started out with some salt in them, plus a stupendous amount of salt and other minerals would have been added during the Flood from erosion and volcanism.

More recent estimates show even more salt entering than Austin and Humphreys accounted for, meaning the estimate should be much lower. Simply put, the oceans should be much saltier than they are today if they were anywhere near as old as the secular timeline claims.1

The only “out” for long-agers is to assume that the rates have dramatically changed — which undermines the whole idea of uniformitarianism.

An honest scientific investigation will never disprove the Bible. It will always confirm the Truth.

“You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves rise, you still them.”

Psalm 89:9

Our Mission

We exist to glorify and honor God by equipping Christians to diligently “go and make disciples” and contend for the faith, in a morally and spiritually bankrupt culture — with gentleness and respect.

“But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you.

Who among all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this?

In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.”
(Job 7-10)
